Flavor Buffet: 9/4/2020
Happy Friday, everyone!
It’s the first Friday of September and a long weekend - Labor Day is on Monday - so let’s chill out and have some fun, shall we? The weather is supposed to be perfection here in the northeast so I’m planning on an abundance of time outside. We’ll probably get takeout more than once. And we may make more ice cream! Isn’t that wild - we’re really living it up over here. ;)
Jokes aside, I highly recommend appreciating the little things and feeling good about enjoying the moments that you may have previously taken for granted. Feeling good and healthy is reason enough to smile if you ask me.
This week’s Buffet starts to lean toward the new season with a couple fall-ish recipes, my updated guide to takeout (you need it!), plus an extended Shop section because I’m thinking about some pieces for my fall wardrobe. Not to mention cookbooks! Keep reading for a few titles I strongly recommend adding to your cart.
Have a great long weekend! Be safe and please wear a mask.

The Boston Marathon is taking place virtually this year (for the first time, ever) and I’m impressed with the high-tech alternative. Good luck to the runners participating!
September horoscopes are here, thank you Bon Appetit, and they feature late-summer recipes. Gotta take a peek!
COOK
Creamy Lemon Zucchini Pasta - We need to make this before the (local) zucchini runs out!
Guacamole Turkey Burgers - Strongly considering these burgers for the long weekend.
Funfetti Cake Batter Blondies - Aren’t these cute? This is a gluten free recipe! Our cookie plate is empty and I think these may be a good replacement - especially with homemade ice cream. ;)
Cinnamon-Oat Peach Crisp - I’ve never made a dessert like this, but I love anything with a crumbly topping. Time to experiment!
DINE
The long weekend has arrived! I’m not sure of our plans, but I have a feeling we’ll be ordering takeout and possibly venturing for some fried seafood! Good news - I just updated Bar Bites: Takeout Edition so you may want to check it out before finalizing your dinner.
Bar Bites Beyond: Southern Maine - this may be helpful too! Day trip, anyone?
Public Kitchen - I’m already craving another gluten free pizza! We had them last week and they were awesome.
SHOP
This week brought some cooler evening temperatures and chilly mornings, which means fall is around the corner. It is September after all! So now I’m thinking about long-sleeves, jeans, and the start of layering season…yippee!
A Classic Denim Jacket is a fall wardrobe staple. I love this one!
Considering this ribbed mockneck sweater tank because it would look great with a blazer for Zoom meetings. That’s how I’m judging tops these days…
Can’t go wrong with a black Dudley Stephens Park Slope fleece for fall! I’ll be wearing these daily…

Stay tuned - my next style guide will be all about loungewear/athleisure/comfy pants. Whatever you want to call the pieces you wear when watching TV.
