Flavor Buffet: 8/20/2021
Hello! Happy Friday. I almost skipped out on this week’s Buffet because yesterday was my birthday (hi, I’m now 36) and today is day two of my extra-extra long weekend (read: I’m on vacation), but I didn’t!
Turns out creating this Buffet while being very relaxed and “stuck” inside due to rain is the perfect combination for curating a Buffet with ease. I’m sipping hot coffee, the house is quiet, and I fairly easily gathered everything necessary for your weekend reading. You’re welcome!
Now, please enjoy this week’s selections of easy-breezy reading, recipes to consider, and of course, some shopping. I may be a year older, but my favorite pastime will never change. ;) Thank you for reading and for hanging out in my tiny corner of the Internet.
READ
High-quality and less-expensive coffee is popping up all over NYC in very cute carts. I’m intrigued! I’ll visit again someday, for sure.
The cost of going out to eat is getting fairly pricey (even at the somewhat average restaurants), but that’s probably not changing any time soon.
Who else needs to figure out the best body lotion for their skin type? Super-dry skin club over here…
Of course this Catskills home tour is perfect in every way. I love the design in every room and it has given me a lot of inspiration for our (also very old, full of character) home.
There’s a new podcast out now from Bon Appetit called Food People and I am very interested!
A great piece about how to host a group with a variety of dietary restrictions (and preferences). If you come to our house, everything will always be gluten free. ;)
COOK
Very tempted to make this skirt steak with grilled pineapple chow while eating on the deck is still an option.
I have a feeling chicken shawarma bowls will be on our dinner table next week. Yum!
A meatless, bold-flavor taco? Sure, let’s try it! Making chipotle cauliflower tacos with creamy jalapeno verde very soon, too.
While we’re at it, let’s add Perfect, Forever Cornbread to the recipe list. Craving it right this instant.
Summer produce is still plentiful, and available, so we will be making this baked farro with summer vegetables. I’ll just swap out the farro for GF pasta or rice pending my mood.
Sometimes I just want a big bowl of chicken fried rice. Like, all the time. ;)
Dine
Stay tuned…Bar Bites: Comfort Food Classics arrives on the blog next week!!
SHOP
Shout-out to New England Loom, a local small business that sells a thoughtfully curated collection of vintage rugs. I may have bought more than a couple(!) during my birthday visit to the shop in Wenham, MA.
My home decor plans continue to swirl, but eventually our attic will be a second space to relax (read: living room). I’ve been looking at furniture from Article for the space.
I will always appreciate high-quality paper products and Iowa-based Moglea makes some of the best in the biz. Handmade, hand-painted, and all around awesome.
On the tech-front, I need to order a Loopy phone case for my new phone. Seriously, they’re the best cases and there are so many designs!
My latest art addition to our home comes from Charles Ryan Clarke’s chic, memory-filled matchbook photos. We bought a few for our anniversary and now the collection has begun…
Have a great weekend and enjoy!
