Flavor Buffet: 4/16/2021
Hello! Happy Friday.
It’s a joyful (read: dreadful) mix of snow and rain here in the Northeast today so I’m going to do my best to distract myself - and all of you - with today’s Flavor Buffet. It has plenty to read, cook, and browse to get you through this very-not-spring-like day. Home tours with sunshine, recipes for grilling, recipes for baking, more spring style, plus home decor I can’t resist; this week’s roundup has it all.
Please continue to wear a mask in public and be sure to get the vaccine as soon as you’re able to do so! I very much appreciate you being here and for reading my little corner of the Internet. Enjoy!
Have a great weekend!
READ
A an in-depth look at The Real Housewives franchise and the Bravo network’s “soul.” I’m not a consistent viewer, but this article is worth a read.
Looking forward to summer for many reasons; and now adding this to the list: 2021 will be the Cosmo summer.
A colorful, cheery home tour and a very happy couple. A bright spot for this very rainy day.
A detailed guide to the best headphones. I’m saving this one because I think it’s finally time for AirPods.
One more home tour in sunny LA because it’s so pretty and gives me hope that the sun will eventually come back.
Why baking bars are the best form of chocolate for baking. My personal go-to bar is from Guittard.
This is too good to not include in the Buffet, again: The Epicurious Interactive Cocktail Cabinet. Hello, weekend!
COOK
My weekend project may be making dumpling wrappers from scratch for these pea and ricotta potstickers.
I love the sound of this Dan Dan Pappardelle; what an interesting combination!
As soon as spring returns (next week?), I think we should make this shrimp and chorizo mixed grill.
Grilled potatoes? Genius. Grilled Potatoes with Red Miso Butter coming to our table very soon.
Adding coconut curry stuffed peppers to next week’s meal plan.
Corn muffins may be part of the weekend as well.
Not only do I need this Seaweed Lettuce Salad, but I need to order the author’s new cookbook To Asia, With Love as well.
DINE
Seth and I both received our first dose of the vaccine this week so the future is looking bright, and eventually safe, for going out for dinner (I know some may choose to do this currently). Hooray! I cannot wait to add-back our weekly Friday nights out and eventually go out in Boston again to some of our favorite spots. Here are my local dining guides, if you’d like to peruse to options for the future. Enjoy!
SHOP
My Spring Style Roundup is now available! Take a look for the pieces I’m wearing during this most-unpredictable spring season.
The Everlane Track Half-Zip has quickly become a favorite spring layer.
I don’t mind white jeans year-round, but their “specific” season is coming right up. I like this distressed pair for weekends with a black tee.
The neutral summer wardrobe (to match the house) may need to include these slides. Although even these seem too formal given my daily activities.
I’ve been browsing Serena & Lily for a lot of design inspo recently. I love this toile tray for outdoor entertaining. And these woven placemats. And these coasters. And…
As I research options for storage in our gym/office, this wood dresser has a unique design without being too bold. It’s also narrow enough to fit the space available.
On the other hand, I could go more-modern and minimalist with this piece. Less storage space, but it would also take up less space. Hmm…
Starting to think about art for our house and I’m a firm believer that art (or whatever you hang on the wall) should make you instantly happy and feel good. I saw this print and immediately thought it should be in our home.
I love the light in this one, too. It made me feel a sense of calm and to just…relax.
Enjoy!
