Flavor Buffet

And here we are, once again, on Friday! I must say that this week seemed to fly by, which is pretty great. All of a sudden the weekend has arrived and we have a couple days to unwind, bake some cookies, and go for a few walks (far away from others).

I hope you’ve had a good week and take some time to check out this week’s Buffet. There are interesting articles, recipes to make tonight (or whenever), and some excellent online-browsing recommendations. ;)

Have a great weekend, please stay safe and feel well.

Hello, new month! April has arrived and it’s time for the Bon Appetit horoscopes. Which bean are you?

A helpful discussion offering advice and precautions to take when grocery shopping.

What are you favorite “meals” to make when no one is looking? Since we’re all home all of the time right now it’s the perfect excuse to have your favorite dishes that don’t exactly fit into the traditional category of a full meal. Secret Single Cooking is something we can all relate to.

Grub Street Diet has been temporarily changed to The Quarantine Diet and it’s still just as entertaining. Take a look at a day of Julia Turshen’s food. Her writing is just as great as her recipes! We recommend both of her cookbooks, FYI.

Cook

Spiced Lamb and Dill Yogurt Pasta - this sounds like spring to me! Definitely considering this dish for next week.

Chicken, Leek, and Rice Soup - because April has started with some very chilly days. Soup for the soul could benefit us all. Perhaps another great one for next week, or tonight. Or the weekend.

Homemade Falafel - with all of this extra time we have for cooking projects, perhaps it’s finally time for falafel. Especially now since I’ve found a source for excellent GF pita bread.

Cauliflower Toasts - couldn’t resist sharing a recipe from Ina Garten (did you see her cocktail hour this week?). These toasts sound delicious.

Dine

As you know, restaurants are almost all closed for the time being. However, there are many still offering takeout and delivery during specific hours each night. I would recommend finding your favorite spot on Instagram to see if they are staying open and/or offering takeout options. It’s so important to support local restaurants, large and small, during these tough times.

Shop

Maybe you’re shopping online right now, or maybe you’re not. Here are a few places and items I’ve been browsing…

Dermstore.com - whether you need anything or not, I find it entertaining to scroll through all of the best-rated skincare products and read the reviews. Or search for something specific (moisturizer, sunscreen,) and read up on every option.

J.Crew and Madewell - both are having excellent sales right now. It may be a good time to find great deals on spring attire (it will eventually be warm out!).

LuluLemon - Some people may disagree, but I love this brand for their high-quality fabrics and products that last (their running pants and socks are the best). I was browsing through the “We Made Too Much” section, which features their discounted merchandise (all items in this section are final sale) and I was pleasantly surprised to see many items I had been considering a while back. Good to know they’re now on sale. ;)

Many of you asked (on my Insta stories) where I bought my white bookcase (it holds all - most - of the cookbooks) that I organized over the weekend, well, here it is! And it’s on sale. :)

Enjoy, stay safe, and be well.
