Flavor Buffet

Welcome to the first Friday of my first work from home week. And probably many of yours as well! It’s been an interesting set of days, to say the least, but I must admit I’ve done fairly well. I created a routine and I’m sticking to it - for the work days at least. This weekend will perhaps prove more challenging, but we shall see.

Let’s get to the Buffet! Because we definitely have a lot of extra time to read these days.

Have a good, safe weekend!

Read

Here is something helpful to read. Learn about how to take care of your skin in your 30s. I’m smack-dab in the middle of this decade so I found the guide quite useful. It’s never too early to take good care of your skin.

A kind letter that made me feel good about the influx of cooking in our home and everyone’s homes right now. And it includes wonderful suggestions about what to cook and why.

My midday meals have changed drastically since I’m now working mere feet from the kitchen. However, I’m still interested in quick, and easy, meals during my work day. Check out this set of 40 lunch recipes to make quickly while you’re working away from your kitchen table/couch/home office.

Cook

Now is the time to cook, my friends! We’ve been improvising dinners, finding new treats to bake, and feeling pleased that we’re pretty prepared for an extended amount of time at home to do, well, what we’ve been doing for years: cooking dinner. Every night.

Scallion Pancakes with Chili-Ginger Dipping Sauce - I want these right now. Make sure to use GF flour and soy sauce.

Shrimp Ramp-y - as soon as we find ramps it will be time to make this dish. It’s also naturally gluten free! Saving this one for later in the spring.

Pork and Asparagus Stir-Fry - it’s not quite asparagus season, but eventually it will be and then this meal will be delicious.

Tagliatelle With Prosciutto and Peas - This dish is indulgent and luxurious and looks amazing. Just use GF pasta and cook away. So much yum in one bowl.

I can’t resist… here are 29 recipes featuring chickpeas (we’ve made many of these). They’re inexpensive and full of protein. You’re welcome. And when they’re crisped in olive oil… 😍 Perfection.

Pan-Banging Chocolate Chip Cookies - in case you need to bake, I recommend these incredible cookies. Just use GF flour (I prefer Cup4cup) and they are irresistible.

Sour Cream and Onion Biscuits - I baked these last weekend and they were phenomenal. Be careful; you may eat half the batch on day one. Fresh from the oven they are pure joy.

Dine

Many restaurants are offering takeout and/or delivery right now instead of being open for dine-in options. It’s a major change for us all. I’d recommend reaching out to your favorite spots to see if a takeout/delivery option is available.

Alternatively, purchase a gift card at your favorite restaurant(s) to use once they’re open.

Shop

I know it’s not an ideal time to be shopping, but due to the widespread (temporary) closing of stores, many are offering great deals by shopping online. Including…

Nordstrom - 25% off almost the entire site. Wowza.

Zeia Foods - 20% off your order with code STAYHOME. Amazing GF pizza crusts from a wonderful, women-owned small business. This discount is valid on all orders until 3/31.

Jenni Kayne - 20% off of your order. This is rare and their products are beautiful.

Tuckernuck - 20% off the whole site. Delightful.

Enjoy, be safe, and stay healthy.
