Flavor Buffet

Well, it’s Friday once again folks and what a week it has been. I hope you’re feeling well, washing your hands often, and being smart about your activities. It’s a highly anxious time for everyone so I’d advise what I’ve been hearing from a lot of folks: be kind to each other. Be smart. And practice good hand hygiene, always.

On the bright side, if you’re home right now, then you probably have time to read! Check out this week’s Buffet, take a deep breath, and try (hopefully) to stay calm.

Have a safe weekend!

The Coronavirus is having an impact the world over. On a local level, it’s having a big impact (and growing) on the restaurant industry and food businesses. Check out this article, which will be updated regularly.

Learn why cocoa powder is the best ingredient for making always-superior brownies. I’m drooling.

Whether or not I’m creating an office at my kitchen table, I think I need this mini toaster oven either way. So cute!

And if you need this, here is a comparison of 10 different vegan butters. Who knew?!

Cook

Healthyish Fried Chicken - it’s a naturally gluten free recipe! And we love fried chicken. So, do we try it? 😏

Camouflage Chocolate Fudge Brownies - troubling times deserve dessert. Just need to swap the flour!

Chickpea, Spinach, and Chorizo Frittata - someone say brunch time? Need this. Now.

Dine

Whether you’re going out to dinner right now, or putting plans on hold, here are a few great places to go.

La Morra - a favorite spot in Brookline village, their menu has plenty of cozy, elegant, and rustic Italian dishes that can easily be made gluten free (or are already safe). Go early for bar seats or make a reservation for a table upstairs.

The Bancroft - always a good time with a menu that’s reliably delicious. Great cocktails, upbeat atmosphere, and some of my favorite fries. Also, if you’re not in the mood for steak, I love the shrimp cocktail.

Twist Bakery Cafe - the best 100% gluten free establishment in this area (that I know about). Goodies to go, breakfast all day, and a meatball panini that’s just too delicious, I love this spot for a safe meal any time of day. And those desserts! 😍

Shop

Sure, maybe going to the mall isn’t the best idea, but e-commerce is still here.

Of course, Madewell is having an excellent sale, days after I place an order…

Did you see? Dudley Stephens dropped new-for-spring fleece colors this week. Take a peek… they’re pretty! And they’re offering 20% off everything this weekend. This never happens! Time to stock up.

Skincare note: I’m now into Bioderma micellar water. This product is an amazing makeup removal tool and I’m hooked.

Enjoy!
