Flavor Buffet

Happy Friday, everyone! With just under a week to go until Thanksgiving, I’m hoping your menus are being finalized. And with the holidays coming up shortly after, perhaps your gift lists are in the process of being created, too. Either way, there’s a lot of fun (and food) about to happen…

Check out the Buffet and have a great weekend!

It’s gift guide season! Hooray! And while some may prefer to wait until December to get organized for gifts, the guides are (mostly) out online. Mine arrives next week!😉 Check out The Healthyish Gift Guide as a way to ease into the season of giving.

If something is delicious and salty, there’s a strong chance anchovies are cooked in the dish. Surprise!

Molly Baz wrote about her eleven essential kitchen tools which, not surprisingly, would also be excellent gifts. See? The gift guides are everywhere…

Seasonal colors play such a role in decorating this time of year, and in our wardrobes too, but how do you incorporate “fall tones” throughout the year? Why limit red, green, orange, and black to just the fall?

Cook

Crispy Black Rice and Chinese Sausage Stuffing - very non-traditional “stuffing” for Thanksgiving, but man it sounds delicious. I’ll probably add this to a future meal plan, regardless.

Pork Wontons with Sesame Sauce - I think 2020 will be the year I learn to make GF dumplings from scratch.

One-Skillet Mushroom Cornbread Stuffing - this is a GF stuffing! Hooray! And somewhat more traditional than the one above if you still need one for your menu. Sounds delicious, actually.

Double-Crumb Crumb Cake - I have no words except I need to bake this cake this weekend. Wowza. YUM.

Dine

Need a break from Thanksgiving prep? Head to The Stones for a double cheeseburger and their homemade fries. You’re welcome. 😉

Looking to unwind in a beautiful space? Meet friends for cocktails at The Oak Long Bar and Kitchen. A personal favorite this time of year.

I’ve been hearing great reviews of the new Town Meeting Bistro at the Inn At Hastings Park in Lexington. As soon as we check it out, I’ll report back!

Shop

My 2019 Holiday Gift Guide is right around the corner - available as early as next week hopefully - but I’ll give you a sneak peek of a few items because you’re worth it. Time to start shopping, if you’d like…

Nothing Fancy - Alison Roman’s second cookbook is another total delight. We’ve made a couple dishes so far and I made the chocolate cookie recipe from the dessert section. Every single item so far was stellar. Excellent book, indeed.

Crate and Barrel Bistro Low Bowl - I love these bowls for meals large or small. They’re part of our everyday dish collection and I use them for serving fish and veggies or a large portion of pasta. Versatile and basic, but they always make dinner look great. A great gift!

Anthropologie headbands - I’m into headbands again. I am so glad they’re back in style! I wear them frequently for work since they seem to elevate almost any outfit. The selection at Anthropologie is fantastic.

Enjoy!
