Flavor Buffet
Happy Friday, everyone! My weekend plans include a massive amount of laundry, a fun (kinda) shopping return, and probably doing our taxes! Major excitement. If you’re in the same boat as I am, adulting galore, check out this set of articles to lighten up the weekend and add in some fun. :)
Enjoy!
1. The world of canned tomatoes is vast. And it should be - they’re a pantry staple for good reason! Check out this informative guide to learn all about how to buy the best canned tomatoes for any of your upcoming tomato-based recipe needs.
2. Planning to watch the Oscars this Sunday? I am! And while we are definitely not attending an awards-watching party, I think a few of the options in this piece, featuring party food ideas, would be awesome for our party of two, seated on the couch. There are cocktail suggestions, too! :)
3. Morning breakfast routines are tough, especially during the work week, which is why I stick to the same meal day after day (scrambled eggs with greens and a protein). But maybe other, faster breakfast options are out there? Here’s a great list of healthy breakfast to make that will keep you full and won’t waste your precious morning minutes.
4. If it wasn’t obvious enough already, I’m a full-fledged fan of Bon Appétit. I subscribe to the magazine, I read the website daily, and follow a number of the writers on social media. I know. It’s a bit much. But! It’s all because I think this publication is doing things right in the food world and strikes such an excellent balance in their content. Recipes, information, tips and tricks, and just fun reading about food.
Now, they’re coming to TV! The Bon Appétit channel is now available to stream for free and features all sorts of great foodie content - I can’t wait to watch!
5. Although I plan our meals for the week on Sundays, we do not really partake in the world of “meal prep.” Don’t ask me why - I don’t have a great reason - but I like to enjoy Sundays as much as possible and spending time meal prepping (while a wonderful idea) just never seems to happen.
This mindset may change, however, because I found this set of meals that are excellent for that Meal Prep Life. Check out this list and let me know if any of these are heading to your dinner table in the coming weeks!
Bonus!
Are you familiar with Banza Chickpea Pasta? It’s gluten free and a great alternative to traditional GF pasta that isn’t always the “healthier” alternative to other GF grains.
Beyond pasta, the Banza family has a new chickpea-based product that was announced this week: rice! Yup. It’s brand-new, gluten free, and is a pretty cool alternative to the standard white rice in your cabinet. Available at Whole Foods nationwide. 🤗
Snacks!
Featured these meatballs on our dinner plates this week and they were delicious! Read this piece to learn more about how the recipe came to be.
It’s been way too long since we’ve made scallops at home. This recipe, which has you wrap the scallops in a foil packet to bake in the oven, may just be the best new way to make them for dinner!
Speaking of the oven, it’s been a while since we’ve baked a dinner in general. Pretty sure this Chicken Fajita Skillet Quinoa Bake will do the trick! Omg this looks awesome...
Have a great weekend!
