Flavor Buffet: 10/15/2021
Hello! Happy Friday.
How are we already here at the mid-point of October? Time flies when… you’re waiting to wear sweaters! Seriously, it was oddly warm this week which felt nice in one way, but in general I’d love for true fall to be here. Admiring pumpkins and foliage with a hot sun just feels…weird? Anyway, you’re not here to read about my feelings on the weather (even though I provide them every time), you’re here for the Buffet!
This week I’m sharing the 2022 color of the year, fun commentary on loud foods, pancakes for Sunday morning, more fall flavors, and some shopping suggestions. Because we’ll all need to wear sweaters eventually… ;)
READ
Save this list of the best products for dry skin if you, like me, have dry skin that gets even more dry during the winter.
A good read about Keith McNally, the NYC restauranteur, who has gone through a lot.
Speaking of restaurants, and skincare, this Beauty Uniform featuring Hannah Cheng (who own’s Mimi Cheng’s), is delightful and informative.
A slightly healthier dessert alternative: strawberry peanut butter (vegan) milkshake. I want to make this one.
All about the 2022 color of the year “October mist.” I like it!
Please, dear internet, tell me why loud food tastes better (AKA why do I love crunchy snacks the most?).
COOK
While I have no desire for a PSL, I’d consider whipping up a batch of pumpkin pancakes this weekend. Will they be too sweet?
I think we will make this curry coconut noodle soup next week when it finally feels like fall again.
Chili-Honey Chicken & Sweet Potatoes will be on the table ASAP. Yum!
We may need Texas Nachos for the football game on Sunday. Or every Sunday.
No shame here, I love pancakes. Here’s a second recipe for the “traditional” buttermilk version.
Currently craving slow cooker tacos al pastor.
WATCH
Ted Lasso Season Two (Apple TV+) - go watch it! Loved every minute of this season and am so happy a third will be made. It’s just really good TV (with awesome characters and kindness and humor and all of the good stuff).
The Chair (Netflix) - it’s only one season (so far), but it’s entertaining and makes you think, but not too much.
Succession (HBO) - season three begins this weekend and I cannot wait!! Have you seen the first two?
Home Economics (ABC) - this is a sitcom on ABC which is amusing, pretty funny, and somewhat well done for a primetime show on regular cable.
SHOP
This Canada Goose hooded jacket would be great for cold-not-freezing days this winter.
A black cotton-cashmere J.Crew sweater that’s on sale, then reduced further at checkout? Yes, please.
I love this simple, striped Sezane top. Comfy and works well with black or blue jeans.
Incredible price on these Abercrombie jeans - yes, that Abercrombie - they fit so well! Trust me and try them for yourself.
The shirt jacket trend (“shacket”) is everywhere right now. I’m debating a number of versions, but this Everlane one looks like a strong contender!
Finally, a skincare suggestion for those of you that (like me) have very dry skin, especially during the colder months. I love this Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer. Highly recommend!
Have a great weekend and enjoy!
