Flavor Buffet: 10/1/2021
Good morning! Happy Friday and welcome to October!
The air is crisp, socks are on, and I’m just thrilled with the much-cooler mornings that arrived this week. It feels good! All of a sudden I’m looking for fall decor for our front porch, realizing we don’t need the windows open all of the time, and joyfully reorganizing my closet for the “colder weather” clothing. So long summer, fall is finally here! Cheers to that.
Thank you for your patience as I skipped the Buffet last week, but it’s back! This week I’m featuring fall recipes, fresh pasta, shows to watch tonight, and a handful of cozy sweaters to get you settled into the season.

Fully support the notion to “stop whitewashing wellness” because it isn’t really helping anyone.
Now that fall is truly here, time outside is more geared toward outdoor exercise and less lounging on the deck (because it’s not hot). This set of recommendations for the season is timely and being bookmarked immediately.
A terrific list of fall vegetables and their favorite flavors - keeping this handy, too!
You heard it here first: this is the fall I will be making fresh gluten free pasta from scratch. I didn’t register for that pasta-making attachment for nothing! ;)
Thoroughly enjoyed reading about crispy v. crunchy. Two of my favorite food-related descriptions.
Loved the tour of this Tribeca penthouse, but of course the kitchen was my favorite. I’m always a fan of the “waterfall” edge on the island.
COOK
Love this All-Purpose Coconut Curry because nothing says “warm and cozy” (and extremely versatile) quite like a piping hot bowl of coconut curry. So good!
Balsamic braised Brussels with pancetta will be on our dinner table next week.
General Tso’s Tofu - definitely want to make this meatless version of the takeout classic.
Rosemary Roasted Butternut Squash Pizza - looks like a delicious Friday night dinner to me!
Tomato-Pea Risotto - I love risotto more than many other foods. This dish will be on the table very soon. Note: scroll down for the recipe on this one.
Chicken Lettuce Wraps - Such a great weeknight meal; time to add it back into the rotation!
WATCH
Ted Lasso Season Two (Apple TV+) - we’ve just begun and it’s as charming as ever.
Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu) - who has seen this? Should we watch it? I’m on the fence…
The Morning Show Season Two (Apple TV+) - so good! Love watching the new episode every Friday night.
The Chair (Netflix) - A show about relationships and college professors and race and equality and family and…
SHOP
Nothing like a few chilly fall days to make me (finally) excited for socks! And much more…
Wearing a Dudley Greenpoint turtleneck fleece on my walks and I just love this slightly-longer length.
Here to report this Madewell Dispatch Jacket is great for wearing over mid-weight fleeces and sweaters. Slightly oversized, but don’t size down (so you have room for the layers!).
Shoutout to J.Crew high-rise bike shorts because they’ve been the best (low price, good quality, comfy) for my at-home workouts.
Saw this Everlane felted merino half-zip sweater in an email, then on someone on Instagram, and then ordered it. Will report back as soon as it arrives. #easilyinfluenced. Can’t help myself…
This J.Crew cashmere collared sweater (striped) is so chic, but needs to be hand-washed. Hmm…
Look at this cute reversible puffer coat from Alice & Olivia. I don’t need it. Just liking it (a lot) from afar.
Snack Alert: Loving Dr. Praeger’s Chik’n Littles. They’re vegan, gluten free ‘chicken’ nuggets and I don’t care that they’re technically for kids. I’ve happily had them for lunch multiple times.
Have a great weekend and enjoy!
