Flavor Buffet: 2/26/2021
Hello and happy Friday!
The snow has been melting this week, which has been terrific, and the sun is shining. What could be better? I’m full of hope for the future and that’s partially due to the upcoming change in season. I cannot wait for warm spring days and lots of time spent outdoors.
If you read the latest Home update, we’re amidst researching outdoor furniture for our deck. That stuff is pricey! However, I know we will use it constantly so I’m determined to find the exact right setup to optimize the space. Stay tuned for that.
In other news, I baked for the first time in our new house and it was delightful! Funny how a more-organized system, and easy-to-access appliances, make such a difference. I’ll be sharing more details on my baking project very soon. Let me just say this: 2021 is going to be the year of cake(s). Everyone loves cake.
Now, let’s get to this week’s Buffet. Variety is the name of the game so today I’m sharing information about podcasts, room temperature butter, design trends, delicious recipes, my future-visit plan for restaurants, and of course, shopping.
One last comment: can you believe March begins on Monday?! I’ll take it. Bring on spring and all of the goodness to come.
Have a great weekend! Please continue to wear a mask.

Will you be checking out this podcast with Bruce Springsteen?
Yet another paper publication (a food magazine) bites the dust to go digital-only.
Caroline’s writing is spot-on and, personally, it always rings true. My dreams lately have been odd and vivid.
In case you need it, here are six bathroom design trends for 2021. As I work on designing these spaces in our house, this is pretty helpful.
So many great design ideas and inspiration in this home tour which features a lot of “high and low” elements.
Good news for bakers and fans of buttered toast: you can store butter at room temperature. It will be OK.
COOK
Roasted Turmeric Chicken Pitas with Garlic Lemon Tahini - I’d love to make this soon, but perhaps skip the pita and turn it into a delicious salad.
White Fish with Tomato Basil Beans - sounds so good for a weeknight meal. Healthy and flavorful!
Vegetarian Skillet Stuffed Shells - I’ll need to use a GF pasta for this one, but I really want to make it. Looks delicious!
Butternut Squash and Chorizo Hash - Looks like a perfect breakfast to me!
Buttermilk Pancakes - We’ve got buttermilk in the fridge, which is rare, so I’m pretty sure pancakes will be on this weekend’s menu. Pancakes or waffles: which is your favorite?
DINE
The future is pretty exciting, if you ask me, and I’m getting a very early head-start on where we will go out for dinner when it’s officially deemed entirely safe to do so. We haven’t gone out for dinner and sat inside a restaurant since March 7 of last year (!!) so you bet I’m excited for the day when we can do this again.
Here’s a sampling of where I’d love to go….
The Bancroft (one of my favorite bars)
Border Cafe (cheap, pretty good food and unlimited chips and salsa)
Myers and Chang (one of our all-time favorite Boston spots)
The Stones (my favorite fries and another great bar)
Twist Bakery Cafe (we get takeout from here often and eat in the car. I can’t wait to sit inside and eat my lunch.)
SHOP
Tory Sport is having a private sale for the next few days. Check it out!
Spring is coming so I think it’s time to stock up on one of my favorite basic t-shirts.
A skincare/makeup post is long overdue (I know). For now, I’d recommend ordering the Ilia mascara. It’s the best!
I just ran out of a free sample of the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream and I’m definitely going to order the full size.
My new desk arrived this week! I am smitten. If you’re in the market for a new desk, and this is your style, then I’d strong recommend it.
I’ve ordered this small, oval mirror for our downstairs bathroom (powder room) and I can’t wait to hang it up.
The rug pads have arrived and we are finally putting down the vintage rugs I bought from Ramble Market. If you live near Boston, I’d strongly recommend visiting this great (large) shop in Waltham.
Enjoy!
Mollie
