Flavor Buffet: 8/7/2020
Happy Friday, everyone!
It was a wicked hot week around here, but I guess that’s August. I’ve been aiming for twice-daily walks and the heat is real (of course it’s all relative - some people think 65 degrees is freezing). But I will stop complaining - we are lucky to have such summery weather during summer.
Moving on, the Buffet is here and it’s got a little of everything including chicken recipes, zucchini bread, restaurant guides, new recipes from us, plus products I’m using and perusing…
Have a great weekend! Please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.

Pretty sure we need some new dinner-recipe inspiration involving chicken. You too? Here are 54 chicken recipes to help us all out.
Who doesn’t need an awesome fish taco recipe? I’d love to make these very soon - conveniently our freezer is filled with cod.
An entertaining poll asking New Yorkers about the current outdoor drinking rules and their habits. A good laugh!
As someone who slept on the sidewalk in 2006 for tickets to SNL, yes I did that, this guide for getting tickets for the upcoming season is quite helpful. Of course, who knows what will happen in reality. Maybe save this for the future?
COOK
Blistered Cheesy Peppers - These sound delicious and I think they’d be the perfect snack for our weekend cocktail hour on the balcony.
One Bowl Chocolate Chip Zucchini Banana Bread - This naturally gluten free treat sounds very tempting! May need to make it on the weekend for… breakfast? A snack? Both.
Pepper’s Drunken Noodles - Chrissy Teigen’s mother’s Thai recipes are some of my favorites from her two cookbooks so I’m excited to try this one from the website. Yum!
Have you seen our original recipes? They’re right here! Two new ones arrived this week - more to come soon!
DINE
This weekend we’re planning on a fried clam afternoon and perhaps an evening of takeout. We’re not dining out at the restaurants, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a great, not-home-cooked meal.
Of course, I cannot wait for the days when I feel comfortable and safe going out to eat again. It’s one of my favorite weekend activities! However, for us, it’s not the right time to do that. Meanwhile…
Here is my guide to our favorite takeout.
My Boston restaurant guide (of course, due to COVID, availability may have changed).
And locations beyond including NYC and Maine.
Please be safe, wear a mask, and follow social distancing guidelines when going out to eat.
SHOP
I ordered this leave-in conditioner from one of my favorite hair-product brands and so far I’m a fan! I’m learning to air-dry my hair and actually enjoy the result..it’s a process.
I’ve been seeing the brand Outdoor Voices for a while, but had yet to actually try any of their products (they make clothes for #doingthings like working out). A friend boasted about their tops and sports bras on Instagram so of course, I was influenced and ordered a few. So far, they’re quite comfortable and I really like the fabrics and colors. I recommend them as well!
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale has begun (for cardholders of various levels now, everyone else gets access in a couple weeks) and I’ve seen so many bloggers featuring their favorite products. I think it’s time to take a look…
I’ve been wearing these masks every day and have found them to be incredibly comfortable even amidst the intense heat and humidity (and they’re not so bad to wear while running either). They wash well, too - just skip the dryer. We now have a “mask basket” by the door (hi, 2020) so we can take one every time we leave the apt.
Enjoy!
