Flavor Buffet: 6/25/2021

Fried Clams are my summer vibe.

Hello! Happy Friday. Given yesterday’s glorious blue sky, and perfect temperature, I am surprised by today’s overcast appearance and much cooler feel. However, we’re about to enter another heat wave so I suppose I should enjoy this cool, cloudy day. Not every day can be perfect sunshine here in New England - wouldn’t that be nice? ;)

Enough about the weather (I got sidetracked), let’s get to the Buffet! And the weekend. This week we’re covering how to use that stellar in-season produce, the re-start to one of my favorite shows, even more pancakes, and a cool leather couch, if you happen to need (want) one.

Have a great weekend!

READ

Conan O’Brien is one of my favorite comedians. I’m looking forward to what’s next for him as he ends his 11-year run on TBS.

Speaking of TV, Gossip Girl is getting a reboot and I’m a little too excited to watch it next month.

Checking in with NYC restaurant workers since the pandemic restrictions have been lifted. Safety first!

How do we feel about OddFellows’ new, booze-inspired ice cream? I think I’d try it…

A great guide for how to use the best in-season produce (straight from the Farmer’s Market!) right now.

I adore a serving tray for entertaining (or whenever) and this selection is top-notch. Especially the green gingham one!

COOK

A summer dinner party should include brown butter lobster pasta with burst cherry tomatoes.

I wouldn’t mind a plate of french toast waffles. I’d serve them with bacon for a necessary savory side.

Honestly, pancakes are my forever-favorite breakfast carb that requires syrup. These masa pancakes (naturally GF!) look amazing.

We will be making double-stack mushroom and chicken cheeseburgers this weekend. Wow.

I found a large bag of carrots in the fridge (when did we get them?) and I think this grilled carrot salad may be on a menu coming soon..

Saving this garlic herb corn carbonara with burrata for August when fresh corn is available.

A fried treat at home?! Sure, why not? It’s time for Gorditas de Piloncillo. I want the cookbook, too!

And because it’s summer, and I aim to please, here are 47 blueberry recipes. :)

DINE

As soon as you’re comfortable, I’d recommend going out for dinner. Or lunch! Or breakfast. Just go out for a meal and sit outside and savor every moment. My favorite “normal life” activity is back, just in time for patio season. And if you’re traveling, may I suggest one of my Bar Bites: Beyond dining guides…

Bar Bites: Southern Maine

Bar Bites: NYC

Bar Bites: Las Vegas

SHOP

I mentioned them last week and I’ll say it again: J.Crew Bike Shorts. Buy them. Wear them. Love them. So good, comfy, and well-priced for the summer.

I’ve been using several Biossance skincare products and I definitely recommend the pore minimizing toner. Bonus: their site is having a great sale right now.

Debating this cozy hoodie from Dudley Stephens. I like the white one.

I have no need for a leather sofa today, but I really like this one from Article.

I love this red Gucci bag. Such a fun contrast to my usual low-key color choices.

One more bag, then I’m done: this Loewe woven raffia tote is perfect for, well, anything.

Enjoy!
