Flavor Buffet: 1/8/2021
Hello! It’s Friday. Finally.
Today I’m sharing the first edition of Flavor Buffet of this new year. Yay! I had plans for a big celebration (kind of), but the news took a turn this week. The Buffet is written purely for your entertainment (and to be a helpful guide); however, I must address what happened on Wednesday.
The storming of the Capitol Building on Wednesday was horrific. I was shocked, saddened, and embarrassed to see the horrendous event unfold on live television. What a disgrace for this country we all call home.
My hope for a brighter, better 2021 is not lost. There is still much good to come - especially this month.
So, let’s get to the Buffet. I’m happy to share it with you and am still proud to create this first edition of 2021.
Have a great weekend: please wear a mask.

Just in case you didn’t follow the news closely this week, here is what happened.
Here is the other big news of the week.
Somewhat timely, we finally finished watching all seven seasons of Veep last weekend. I’m taking my time to enjoy reading this finale recap. Have you seen the show?
In a time when restaurants need us more than ever, this idea of Double Dinner sounds excellent.
I like this alternative to the traditional (and somewhat impossible) New Year’s resolution.
COOK
I’d love to make this chopped Thai chicken salad next week. Looks delicious!
Keeping things lighter, a cauliflower rice veggie bowl sounds scrumptious, too.
Smashed avocado fish tacos are calling my name. Sounds summery, but who cares?
Is it even a recipe roundup without meatballs? I need to make these chile-cumin lamb meatballs with yogurt and cucumber in the very near future.
Here’s a great one: One-pot gingery chicken and rice with peanut sauce is an awesome dinner we’ve made before and I strongly recommend it. So good!
DINE
Three great places that I suggest ordering from this weekend. Or any time! The restaurant industry needs our support this year just as much as last. Let’s help them together.
Note: always alert the staff of your dietary restrictions prior to placing an order.
