Flavor Buffet

Happy Friday! And congratulations for working the first full week of 2020. We did it! Now, pat yourself on the back, settle into the couch, and get reading. Or cooking! Or shopping. Or make a reservation (at one of the spots below) and go out!

Have a great weekend!

Read

A terrific selection of dinner ideas for when you’re in the mood to be healthy, but keeping a close eye on the budget. I’m saving several of these for upcoming nights!

Apparently I shouldn’t be saving that buttermilk in my fridge for when I someday (who knows when) will make pancakes. I should be drinking it. What?!

Over at Food52, someone had the patience to fry an egg 42(!!) different ways. I’m intrigued. Which is your favorite?

Cook

Jamaican Beef Patties - looking for a weekend project? I definitely want to make these with GF flour for the pastry dough. They look delicious!

Cauliflower Tacos with Cashew Crema - this is a recipe which is part of the 2020 Healthyish Feel Good Food Plan. We made these this week! Unbelievably delicious. Highly recommend; that cashew crema is unreal. And spicy!

Chicken and Rice Meatballs with Hummus - this recipe is calling my name. We will probably make it next week! Also from the 2020 Healthyish Feel Good Food Plan.

Tres Leches Cake - perhaps 2020 will be the year I finally make this divine cake. I had one once long ago before being gluten free, but I still crave it to this day. Time to bake!

Dine

Admittedly, we haven’t gone out much yet this year, but here are a few favorites for your Friday night. Or Saturday. Or a brunch.

Legal C Bar - perfect for lunch or dinner, we’re fans of this casual spot for all of the regular reasons (excellent GF options including fried clams) and the fact that it’s always busy and upbeat. My new favorite menu item? Coconut shrimp!

Thinking Cup Cafe - a friend needed a place to study with good GF options and I immediately recommended she head over to this cafe. Sure, it’s not a formal restaurant, but it’s the coziest spot for great GF cookies and snacks, plus high-quality caffeinated beverages. Plus, their sandwiches can be made on gluten free bread. :)

Coppa Enoteca - this is the year we finally will visit Coppa. I have heard numerous amazing reviews and just need to go. Who’s joining me?

Shop

Yes, it’s January, but spring isn’t too far away so I’m not that mad about seeing spring styles popping up. The sales are also excellent on winter items.

J. Crew just came out with a “Weekend Collection” and I’m loving it. All of it.

Never a bad idea to have an extra denim shirt in your closet. And this one is on sale! Add to cart?

My new favorite mini hairbrush. I keep it in my gym bag! Works on wet or dry hair.

Enjoy!
