Flavor Buffet: July, vol. I
Hello!
I hope you had a joyous 4th of July and are (possibly) embracing the sticky heat and humidity that has settled here in the northeast. Frizzy, sweaty hair for days is all I am saying about that. And if you’re somewhere else far less sticky, but still summery, enjoy every second.
We’re working on some exciting changes, and additions, to the content of Gluten Free Mollie D so stay tuned for all of that coming up soon. Just think: more baking, more restaurants, and more fun. I can’t wait!
But fear not: the weekly selections of Flavor Buffet are here for good so let’s get to it!
Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

While I fully admit to being a clotheshorse, I know it would be in my best interest to curb my shopping habit and give away a large chunk of my wardrobe that I essentially no longer wear. But could I cull it all down to just a handful of pieces?! I’m not sure.. Check out how this Cupcakes and Cashmere editor revamped her closet so she loves every outfit and only has exactly what she needs (and loves) to wear.
Speaking of food and exercise, and one of my go-to daily blogs, read about how longtime blogger and lifestyle-brand-creator, Emily Schuman, discusses her relationship with these topics and how it may be “easier” than we think to take it all in stride. Here’s a hint: striking a balance is not impossible.
Each month Bon Appétit features horoscopes involving food (hooray). For July, they appropriately selected gelato and I am here for it. Check out your sign and see which gelato flavor represents you. Mine was very unique!

Now that we have a grill, I’m thinking it’s high-time we try grilling meatballs. We will definitely start with this spicy pork meatball recipe and I’ll report back!
Speaking of summer, how about a corn salad? Always on the lookout for recipes featuring fresh kernels, I think this salad looks perfect for a hot July night.
In case you’re still feeling festive, or just love summer berry season, how about a fruit crisp? Top with vanilla ice cream so it’s delicious and patriotic. ;)
Dine
While spending time in Maine for the 4th, we visited some of our favorite restaurants including…
The Trap - a gem in Perkins Cove! A plethora of gluten free options, an unbelievable view, and the friendliest staff. Did I mention gluten free calamari?! I’ll meet you there.
Angelina’s Ristorante - a taste of the Italian classics right in Maine! A menu with something for everyone, I loved that they offer gluten free pasta and can adapt many dishes to be GF. With a big wine list, delicious food, and indoor/outdoor seating options, keep this spot in mind no matter the weather. They’re open all year long!
Rococo Ice Cream - keep your sweet tooth in check at this incredible artisanal ice cream shop. While you won’t exactly find the traditional flavors, you will find (and must try) all of the amazing flavor combinations they have created. The majority are gluten free! My go-to is the salty sweet cream, Seth loves the Cuban coffee, and another one I enjoy includes olive oil and pepitas! Remember: they will let you taste them all!

The results are in and here are my current summer staples...
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen - it worked perfectly on my face and didn’t feel sticky, oily, or greasy. A barely noticeable scent was a major bonus; I’m now an official fan of this very popular brand.
Fresh Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment - with a hint of color and SPF, this easy-breezy gloss stayed on all day and made me feel totally put together despite not wearing any other makeup. What a treat!
I found my old pair of Sperry Original Boat Shoes before we ventured north and I’m so glad I did; comfy for long walks, appropriate with every outfit, and if I happened to get splashed by the ocean I wouldn’t have to worry about my footwear. Winning all around!
Enjoy!
Mollie
