Flavor Buffet: April, vol. III
Happy Friday, everyone! Whether you’re settling into a long weekend or eagerly awaiting for five o’clock, the Buffet is here to help you with any number of activities. Articles, recipes, restaurants, and a little shopping, it’s all here. Relax and read up!
Have a great weekend!
Read
My coffee intake is relatively low (one cup daily), so just reading about the “world’s strongest coffee” made me start to feel jittery.
Dive into this extensive feature on Italian-American restaurants (serving their red sauce best) from coast to coast. It’s a true volume of articles and I’m planning to make my way through all of them (hi, weekend!). I have a feeling I’ll be craving chicken parm the whole time.
Keeping up with the cool people: Milk Bar finally changed the name of it’s beloved Crack Pie to Milk Bar Pie. Bravo, Christina Tosi, for doing the right thing. I can’t wait to make Milk Bar Pie again. It’s unbelievably delicious and deserving of an appropriate name that stays far away from a very troublesome situation. Let’s keep awesome desserts awesome, shall we?
Cook
Never would I have imagined a dish such as Kimchi Carbonara, but man does it sound delicious. We may need to make it next week...
Always on the hunt for baking ideas! I found this Milk and Cookies Tart and I was salivating reading the recipe. It seems too good to be true!
For the healthier side: back to basics, but better with this Broccoli Rabe with Chili and Garlic. An interesting, yet simple vegetable is often the perfect side dish to a standard protein on a weeknight. I’m sure we will include this in our dinners throughout the spring and summer.
Dine
We found ourselves at The Bancroft this week and of course, I ordered my standard: shrimp cocktail and French fries. And a cocktail. The best! Seth had salmon which he also noted was excellent. For the record, their steaks are incredible.
If you follow along on Instagram, then you’ll know that I’m now sharing some of my restaurant recommendations on there as well. Hooray! Yesterday I featured the French fries (see a pattern?) from The Bristol at the Four Seasons Hotel which I deem to be some of the best in Boston. ;)
Summer is on its way and you can often find us in Maine during those scorching hot days. I’ll be creating a full dining guide (Bar Bites) to our favorite spots on the Maine coast, but until then, I’d recommend making your way to The Lobster Shack for some of the finest seafood in Ogunquit. Lobster, fish tacos, grilled hot dogs, and more. Just skip the rolls. ;)
Shop
As the weather warms up and I start to find non-dark clothing in my closet, I’m considering a pair of white jeans for the season. Always a tricky wardrobe staple, but I’m a fan of how crisp and cool they look (even if briefly) for summer adventures.
For those wondering, Mollie’s Market will be coming to the blog soon (so exciting). Patience! While you wait, grab a bag of Quinn GF pretzels and watch a movie. They’re delicious!
Have you ever lost an hour in the ‘Shop’ section of Food52? Well, if you haven’t, then now is the time to dive in and I’ll see you at the checkout. I love these bowls.
Enjoy!
Eat, well.
Mollie
